You don't say which log files you checked, but if the MTA service is not delivering emails to the mailbox service, (both successful and) unsuccessful deliveries are logged in mailbox.log, typically via the LMTP server-related entries.

Separately, I expect you are aware how past end-of-life your current Zimbra system is, and that you should be planning to migrate to a current version ASAP?
