Administrators • Document Preview in Briefcase Broken for CLI Uploaded Files

Hello,

We use a script to deploy signatures to all users and it's been fantastic, but at some point the PNG (or JPG) file that gets uploaded through the CLI stopped getting file type attributes applied so now our signatures no longer include the image file when sending out. This is true for 8.8.15 and 9.0 (latest patch as of yesterday).

When composing a message the signature looks right, the image is there but when you send it the recipient never receives the image, it's not attached or included inline.

If we download the image file from the briefcase, delete the original in the briefcase then re-upload the downloaded image file from the web gui to the briefcase it will work, the signature works and recipients now see the image.

Another fault that is easy to see is that when the image is uploaded via the CLI and you click on it in the briefcase you'll get the message "We cannot generate the preview of the file. Click here to download it.". However when you download it, delete it and re-upload via the web gui the preview now works as expected.

So at some point the attributes assigned by the CLI upload method has changed and the upload from the web gui still works.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Here is a previous thread that I've commented on: viewtopic.php?t=69216

I've contacted Zimbra support and they've created a bug for it (ZBUG-1661) but per the forum link above Zimbra support was contacted 3 years ago about the issue. My previous experience with tech support is a bug issue being opened for over a year with nothing ever happening, ultimately it turned out to be a database issue and not a bug, so I'm reaching out here.

I like Zimbra even though paid support seems to be lacking so am hoping a forum member has some insight or a work around. And yes, we could host the image elsewhere but I prefer not to do that if possible for variety of reasons.

Thank you.
