I believe the team has improved the situation with the 502s. I appreciate everyone's patience as we worked through the various issues related to this problem.
For those interested, we had tracked the issue down to database latency associated with the forum software. While we were able to identify this as one of the early problems, there was not a clear path to resolution. Thanks to some borrowed resources, who were able to help with database and query optimization (at the database level) which seems to have improved the situation considerably.
We will be continuing to monitor the backend to ensure additional issues do not arise. If you encounter additional problems, please (if possible) report them here.
